Here are
some hints to help you make the flowers you receive look beautiful for
many days to come.
- When placing your flowers
in a vase, make sure that the height of the stem is one and a half
times the width of the base of the vase.
- Whenever trimming the
stems, use sharp scissors to make a clean cut, and cut the stems at an
angle.
- Arrange the stems so that
the smallest flower or bud is at the top, and the biggest at the
bottom. This means that the larger the flower, the shorter the stem
will be.
- Let the stems curve
naturally the way they want to. Use greens or some delicate stems for
filling in the spaces between the flowers.
- Strip the stems of any
leaves that are below the surface of the water. We suggest changing the
water in the vase once a day. Unfortunately, most people do not change
the water until it starts to smell after three days. There will
be a strong odor similar to rotten eggs or even worse. Take our advice;
don't wait for the third day!
- Do not jam too many
flowers into one vase. One bouquet does not necessarily equal one vase.
Sometimes it may be necessary to split the bouquet up into two vases.
The flowers will last longer this way.
VASES
- You do not need to buy
expensive vases. Many pretty vases can be bought cheaply.
- A vase will look more
interesting if you stand it on some kind of base, such as a block of
painted wood or a round mirror.
Care of cut flowers
- Remove all packaging and
trim the stems by 1-2", making a diagonal cut with a sharp knife or
scissors.
- Remove any leaves that
will be below the waterline.
- Place the flowers in a
vase containing clean cold water mixed with the sachet of flower food
provided, following the guidelines on the reverse of the sachet.
- Display the flowers in a
cool, light location away from drafts, direct heat, sunshine or fresh
fruit.
Add water as necessary.
- To refresh flowers after
2-3 days, remove any drooping flowers or foliage, re-cut stems by 1-2cm
and replace in fresh cols water.
Special note: Lily pollen can stain clothing,
furniture etc. In case of contact let dry, then brush off. Do not use
water
Care of orchids
- Water cut orchids
regularly; keep the vase filled with water.
- Do not allow it to become
waterlogged.
- Frequent misting of the
orchids with water is recommended.
- Treat planted orchids with
orchid food as directed. After flowering, cut the flower stem at the
base of the plant. With the right care and conditions, your orchid will
flower again after six months.
- Remove any dead blossoms
to promote further flowering.
Your safety
- Flowers and plants are for
display only and must not be consumed.
- Always keep cut flowers
and vases out of the reach of children and pets.
